Assistant Professor of Journalism and Digital Media
Kamille D. Whittaker is an Assistant Professor of Journalism and Digital Media at Clark Atlanta University and serves as the Faculty Advisor for The Panther Newspaper and Communication Arts Journal. In 2020, she co-founded the award-winning community journalism nonprofit Canopy Atlanta. She also most recently served as managing editor of Atlanta Magazine. Her tenure in journalism is rooted in the Black Press—from Black Voice News newspaper in her hometown of Riverside, California, to Atlanta Tribune, and Atlanta Daily World. She’s currently researching the Caribbean presence in the South through a narrative and digital humanities storytelling project entitled Perhaps, to Bloom.
This panel will explore the role of campus newsrooms in informing, engaging, and advocating for their communities. Speakers will discuss building trust, leveraging partnerships, solutions journalism, and digital expansion. Attendees will leave with practical steps to enhance the impact and relevance of their campus publications.
