Training Manager
Priska Neely is a journalist, leader and mentor based in Birmingham, Alabama. She is currently the training manager for Report for America, a national service program that places journalists into local newsrooms to strengthen communities and our democracy. Previously, she was the founding managing editor of the Gulf States Newsroom, a public radio collaborative across Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana. She's worked in public radio as a NPR producer, reporter for KPCC/LAist and a reporter and producer at Reveal from the Center for Investigative Reporting.
This discussion will explore the rapid transformation of news media, including mobile-first journalism, audience engagement, multimedia storytelling, and misinformation challenges. Panelists will highlight emerging trends and how young journalists can adapt to the digital-first approach.
This session features rapid-fire presentations from HBCU journalism initiatives, highlighting their mission, impact, and opportunities for student engagement. Each initiative will deliver a 5–7 minute talk followed by an interactive Q&A.
